This was my first visit to St. Mary's Hospital. I accompanied my mother who has Alzheimer's in advanced stage and cannot speak, not understand language. She had contracted pneumonia and received excellent care. I was very impressed by all of the staff - the nurses (Mathieu, Christina, Vince, Al), Dr. Tremblay, speech therapist, nutritionist, the preposees and even the security guard! They worked to quickly identify her issue, treat the problem and help us get her back to familiar surroundings as quickly as possible. Everyone we dealt with had very strong people skills, conveyed empathy and genuinely tried to be helpful. I very much appreciated being treated as part of my mother's health care team. Many thanks! Un grand merci.

Discharged: 2019-07-12 after arriving Critical Care Emergency 7 days earlier on 2019-07-04 with Giant Cell Temporal Arteritis and loss of vision in my right eye (blind). Many diagnostic problems presented . Astonishing Multidisciplinary Team Effort in Emergency; Opthalmology; Rheumatology; Neurology; Geriatrics; Temporal Biopsy; CT Scan; Radiology; name it, they did it! All that at one of the worst times of year (July Vacation period when everything and everyone in Montreal literally shuts down and goes on holidays!) Nobody goes to St. Mary's Hospital for the food. For 7 days my stomach thought my throat was cut, it was a total shock. Thank God I was in critical care and not hungry, but... What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this? I never wanted to be there in the first place. Yet, the Doctors, the Nurses, the Nursing Assistants, the entire Staff were priceless and crazy busy. All of them and I'm here to say that I am alive. Still. I shouldn't have been. But am. Caveat: One day in any hospital, to a patient, can feel like an entire week. It goes with the territory. The broken bone toe you came into Emerg with cannot take priority over the broken face with the bullet wound between the eyes and half a brain falling out. The foot can wait. The face cannot. And that's why we wait 3-5 hours cursing at the wrong people. It is a parallel universe: Doctors in one stream, patients in the other running together on different schedules. There is no instant anything, or you wouldn't be in a hospital emergency department, you'd be in your own primary care doctor's office. St. Mary's has, bar none, the bestest, kindest, most caring all around staff of professionals working in any hospital in this city. What St. Mary's Hospital does need desperately is a massive infusion of cash from its Anglo base which fled the pograms of the '70s down the 401 to TO et al. If we who are left do NOT support St. Mary's we will lose it! That would be a terrible tragic loss. ST. MARY'S HOSPITAL CENTER IS FAMILY.

Delivered my baby there in 2014 and would not recommend this hospital. I regret my choice. Once the baby was born he was kept in neonatal unit. I wanted to go see him as soon as possible and was not able . I felt disrespected as a new mother.I was discharged the very next day by the head nurse even if my delivery had been complicated, I was still recovering in pain and my baby was not going to be discharged that day. I felt I was of no value to them meanwhile they promote a mother baby friendly hospital. It was the total opposite. I feel it was a hostile environment for a new mother wanting to be with her baby.

My favourite hospital. Doctors and employees are very efficient and, at the same time, so kind and helpful. I can say, this is the best hospital in Montreal.

I went today to the emergency cause of chest pains and waited for 3 hours and then I left cause they kept on letting in new patients who registered after me instead of taking me right away It looks like they either dont know what they're doing or they're racists cause they let in Pakistan's Indians asians even they registered after me I waisted my day and did not see any doctor

The staff at St. Mary's is beyond pleasant and helpful. It is hard to find a member wearing anything other than a smile, which is contrary to what we see at other hospitals in Montreal.
