Signs You Need More Vitamin D

We’re still a ways away from summer, and that means less exposure to that beneficial vitamin D provided by the sun.

This special vitamin is essential for your overall health, including bones, muscles, and healing.

Signs of vitamin D deficiency can be subtle and easy to miss, or confuse with other health problems. Here are some signs to look out for that may point to a lack of vitamin D in your system:

Sure, we all get tired. That could be from a lack of sleep or chasing your kids all day, but I could also be a sign of vitamin D deficiency.

The Vitamin D Council points to tiredness as one of the most common symptoms of a lack of vitamin D.

Bone Pain

Are you feeling growing pains, despite your growth phase ending in the glory days of college? Bone pain is another sign of a lack of vitamin D, according to the Vitamin D Council. A quick fix could be getting more sunlight, or finding vitamin D supplements.

Hair Loss

Medical News Today cites a study in the journal Stem Cells Translational Medicine, that vitamin D is important to healthy, new hair follicles. With its importance on healthy hair growth, a lack thereof could mean the opposite – you’re not getting enough vitamin D.
